The Pennichuck group runs on Wednesday night thru the slightly hilly (ok really hilly) neighborhood by Pennichuck middle school will be starting shortly. Stay tuned for more info.

SANDOWN 5 MILER – NHGP

Congrats to everyone who ran for Gate City this past Saturday! We had 36 striders toe the line in some really hot, humid conditions. We came in second place as a club, but regained the lead more than doubling the total number of points that previous NHGP leader, Upper Valley, got! Great work by all!

Great seeing new striders Alison Lilienfeld, Terryl Fritz Colleen Berube, Jon Hambrecht, Erin Caples, among others show up at their first NHGP race and score points for us!

OUTDOOR TRACK

Outdoor track continues on Wednesdays at Nashua North High School. Join the 5k/10k workout or the marathon/21k workouts each night. Starts at 6pm sharp with announcements. Workouts begin just after that

Once the Nashua South track updates are complete, we will be moving back over there. Sounds like they should be done by the beginning of September.

YOGA/CORE NIGHTS

Yoga/Core returns to track! Come join us for a great stretch and a little core work after track. Come for track and stay for yoga, or just come for the yoga. Starts once the track work is done, usually around 6:40pm.

HAYWARDS RUN

Everyones favorite social event is back! Join us on Tuesday August 23rd for a run, and we’ll get you a super secret discount code that’ll get you 25% off ice cream at Haywards afterwards. What better motivation to run!?

ULTIMATE RUNNER

Congrats to all of those who competed in our annual Ultimate Runner competition. On the Men’s side, Jim Hansen edged out Keith O’Brien for the men’s title. Bob Levine rounded out the top 3. On the Women’s side, Rebecca Kadish had the best combined score overall beating all competitors – both men and women. Newer strider Terryl Fritz was a close second. Congrats to everyone!

OUTDOOR TRACK

Outdoor Track returns THIS coming Wednesday, July 27th! Join us for the 5k/10k workout or the marathon/half marathon workouts starting at 6pm at Nashua North. We’ll be switching to the Nashua South track once that’s complete.

YOGA/CORE NIGHTS

OUTDOOR TRACK

We’ve been having a good crowd at track throughout the first half of the year! While the 5k workout will be on vacation for a few weeks, the Marathon/Half Marathon workout will be continuing as usual.

If you’re looking to run a half marathon or full marathon this fall, there will be a sign up form at track tonight to join our training programs starting July 6th, Next week!. This is included with your membership. Coach David Salvas will put together a training plan no matter whether you’re an expert or novice. If you can’t make it tonight, please reach out to me, [email protected] or to coach directly at [email protected]. please include your name, email, which race you’re targeting and whether you’re an expert or novice.

SCHOLARSHIP – DEADLINE IS THIS SUNDAY!

The Gate City Striders are accepting applications scholarships! This scholarship is open to high school or college students who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution, including a college, university or vocational school in the fall of 2022. Any GCS member, child of a GCS member, or a student sponsored by a GCS member is eligible. May 7th we’ll return to Parker’s Maple Barn out in Mason, NH for a group run followed by breakfast! Meet at 8am sharp in the parking lot across the street. This scholarship is open to high school or college students who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution, including a college, university or vocational school in the fall of 2022. Any GCS member, child of a GCS member, or a student sponsored by a GCS member is eligible. The first race in our New Hampshire Grand Prix title defense is fast approaching. The first race is in our backyards at the Nashua Soup Kitchen 10k on April 3rd! Gate City has won the New Hampshire Grand Prix title the last few years because we’ve had a full team participation. Even if you think you are too slow, you WILL score points. SOUP KITCHEN COURSE PREVIEW RUN THIS SATURDAY

Join fellow Gate City Striders for a group run on the Nashua Soup Kitchen 5K/10K course. Meet next to the Muldoon Fitness Center on the Rivier University Campus Saturday March 26th.Please arrive at 8:45am. Run will start at 9:00amThis is a great chance to prepare for the 1st race in the NHGP series or simply connect with other striders.Pace group leaders will be available to help you follow the route. Please stay with your pace group as there will not be volunteers stationed on the course to direct you.Download or print the 5K/10K course map to have available if needed. Our favorite scenic run amongst waterfalls, trees and _just_a_few_ hills is back this year in it’s normal time! Part of the USATF Mountain Series once again. Looking for a track workout on Tuesday or Wednesday nights? There is still plenty of room for you to join the crew kicking butt and taking names at the Hampshire Hills dome. Tuesday nights feature a 5k/10k and marathon workout, while Wednesday nights are more C25K focused. Warmup starts at 6pm, announcements at 615 workout starts just afterwards. $75 for the rest of the season or $10 cash or check drop in. The Gate City Striders have a very generous program reimbursing our runners based on the number of races in a particular series they run and meeting a volunteering requirement.
