NovemberfestDue to Covid-19 the 22nd Annual Novemberfest will be held virtually on Sunday November 22, 2020. This event, hosted by the Gate City Striders, benefits the Nashua Childrens Home, and the wonderful work they do.Novemberfest has always been primarily a social event and a successful Novemberfest has been when we had a standing room only crowd in the bar at Martha’s Exchange. While we can’t gather as usual this year, the Nashua Children’s Home still needs our support. We are still offering some terrific raffle prizes of value greater than your entry fee.Entrants are encouraged to run the 4-mile Novemberfest course anytime before Sunday November 22, 2020 to be included in the race results.http://www.lightboxreg.com/novemberfest_2020

We’d like to invite the Gate City Striders to run in our free virtual marathon relay series: the Boston to Baystate Virtual Marathon Relay. So far, our virtual events have been members-only, but we thought it would be more fun if GCS ran this one too.Virtual relays will be weekly, for five weeks, beginning on the day of the Boston Marathon on Monday, September 14th and ending on the day of the Baystate Marathon on Sunday, October 18th.Competition is at the individual and team level.Leg distances are 5k, 5 miles, 10 miles, totaling 26.2 for the team. You can coordinate with your teammates and run a different distance each week, or the same. If you run your leg, but your team doesn’t make the distance that week, you still qualify to earn points in the individual division.Team size is 3-5 runners. A team member can run up to 3 legs of different distances in any given week. If you decide to just run solo and compete on the individual level, that’s fine too! The price is right at $0!

Other NewsIf you have any ideas for races or challenges that we can run during Covid, We’re all ears. I do know that the 26×1 mile challenge WILL be making it’s return in the near future, likely on the track. And there have been some rumblings about a mini-track meet setup distantly, but in person. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any ideas. [email protected]
