Boston Marathon Bibs!

The club has received 3 invitational bibs for the Boston Marathon. The submission form is open now until June 16th. https://www.gatecity.org/boston-marathon-bib-form/As in prior years, the more active you are within the club – racing, volunteering, showing up at team activities – the more likely you are to win one of these coveted bibs. Plenty of volunteering opportunities coming up soon! Volunteering also helps satisfy one of the requirements for race reimbursement as races start coming back around.

Outdoor Track! Tonight and every Wednesday night thru the summer!

Track is back! We had a good showing last night at the return of outdoor track. We’re currently meeting at the field near the intersection of Sargents Ave and Manchester St in Nashua. We do have the approval to move to a school track in Hollis in about a month, but are currently finalizing that. We start announcements at 6pm and then the coaches take over from there. See you at track tonight!

Community service / Trash Clean-up:

Our next cleanup date is Sunday June 6th here in Nashua from 8:30am – 1:00pm. We are excited to continue to help clean up spaces we enjoy and use so often. This an excellent way to earn more volunteer points!If you would like to help please meet us at the Nashua YMCA parking lot at 8:30am on Sunday the 6th. Please make sure to wear good shoes/boots, have bug spray, bright colored clothing, utility gloves,, a water belt for water and to also hold bags, Deb will provide trash bags. The Gate City Striders is now accepting applications for two $1,000 scholarships! This scholarship is open to high school or college students who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution, including a college, university or vocational school in the fall of 2021.

We’re currently working on a spring trash cleanup event both on roads and in the parks. We’ll have more information and sign-ups shortly! Part of GCS giving back to the community!

We’re currently working on several items including some in-person activities. We’re developing a plan to have in-person outdoor track following all protocols, Carolina is hard at work figuring out Fitness University this year and the Mine Falls Summer Trail Series race directors are also hard at work developing a plan. The city of Nashua is currently not allowing us to use their tracks or fields until school is out. While we are continuing to work with them, please let me know if you have any connections in neighboring towns where we might be able to meet as a group on the track. Stay tuned! Much more to come!

The NHGP clubs have agreed to adopt a new scoring system on a provisional basis for 2021. The system is designed to encourage more NH clubs to participate in the series, and to be more inclusive to all runners. The NHGP website will be updated in the near future with the details of the provisional scoring system.

Starts January 1, 2021. Johanna Lisle Newbold is putting together a challenge to run every road in the city as a club. She printed out a map of the city so that she can mark off roads as we run them.If you want to join in all I need is:1) Email Me: johanna.newbold@gmail.com with the subject: GCS RUN NASHUA2) include the link(strava, garmin, etc) to your run so that I can zoom in and see the roads you ran. Screenshots may not be large enough for the detail I need. Keep an eye in the discussion group for map updates!
