The Wayland XC Festival is this weekend. According to Mark, it is an easy course with little to no risk of rolled ankles or strange footfalls for those getting ready for later season marathons. Sign up and let Mark know if you’ll be running!

The Last NHGP race is the Chad ½ marathon on October 20th. We’re in the lead, but will need a strong finish to close out our second straight NHGP title. Please let Mark Furler know if you’re running.

Mill Cities! It’s time to start the process of defending our 11 straight Mill Cities titles. We go for the dozen, the Tom Brady of championships, on December 8th. Last year we had over 120 club members competing, it was a COMPLETE team victory. Every Runner Counted, Every Point Counted. The Ghost Train Rail Trail Race, directed by long time strider Theresa Brown Berna, is looking for some volunteers to help out the weekend of October 19th and 20th. Please contact Theresa for more information

We had another Sea of Red on Sunday at the Granite State 10 Miler! Such a strong showing. Overheard one person early in the race commenting that there were “A lot of you in red” out there.. I’m still waiting for the results to be updated with the team scores to see how we ended up doing. But lots of great performances on a tough course! (I’m not sure I want to see that hill at mile 5.5 again anytime soon

Congrats also to everyone who raced Lone Gull 10k (NEGP) on Sunday! Every Runner Counts, Every Point Counts!

It’s almost time to start thinking about defending our Mill Cities Title. We’ll start collecting names soon. Save the date: December 8th! #QuestForTwelveStraightTitles

Mark Furler won the Halfway to St Patricks Day 10k in Manchester on Sunday

The next NHGP race is the Granite State 10 miler in Concord on Sept 22nd. We’re currently in the lead of the New Hampshire Grand Prix series, but Upper Valley and Greater Derry are hot on our heels. We’ll need a full team effort to maintain our lead. Sign up at https://gs10smiler.com/ and let Mark Furler know so we’re covered in all age groups. So far this year we’ve had 66 different runners score points for Gate City in the NHGP. Every Runner Counts, Every Point Counts.

It was a great team victory at the Boot Scootin’ Boogie on Saturday night! Over 50 striders toed the line, scoring 194 points in the initial standings. We beat out Greater Derry (148 points) and Upper Valley (80) to extend our lead in the New Hampshire Grand Prix. Next Race is in September. #back2back#everyrunnercounts#everypointcounts

Trail series ended for the season on Monday night with the PR race. Thankfully we were able to avoid the Thunderstorms and had 180+ runners join us. A HUGE Thank You to all of you who volunteered at some point during the year.

There are 2 more races left in the Summer Trail Series program including the popular PR race on August 19th. We’ve been seeing record numbers this year, another 270 runners this past Monday night. We’re also looking for a couple of Striders to step up and take over as co-race directors. Please let myself or a board member know if you are interested.

Tonight is Health and Wellness night at the track. Come check out all of the vendors and get some free Hayward’s Ice Cream afterwards.

The club has partnered with Sub 5 Racing to help put on their Wolf Hollow 10 Miler. As part of that, we have been given some free passes to use at their event. Half of those passes will go to those who have volunteered at a few events this year: Gate City Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay, Freeze Your Buns, Summer Trail Series, and Fitness University. There’s still time to volunteer at the last two and earn extra chances for
these passes! For the volunteer passes, you do not have to be a Strider.
The second half of the free passes are available to anyone who is an
active Strider on the day that we draw the names. Please submit your

Good Afternoon Striders!

Catherine McNamara set a new half marathon PR by 7 minutes in Utah this past weekend!

The team of Brandyn Naro, Jacob Wormwald, Mark Furler and Colin Smith came in 3rd overall at the USATF-NE Relay Championships, including 2nd in the DMR and 3rd place overall in the 4×800.

We have a few free entries available for the upcoming Wolf Hollow 10 miler this coming November. We’re working on how to distribute them, but volunteering for our signature events like Fitness University, Trail Series and the Gate City Marathon will greatly increase your chances. A sign up form will be available shortly for the raffle.
